How the math works

Fees on revenue (item + shipping charged): listing $0.20, transaction 6.5%, payment processing 3% + $0.25, plus optional Offsite Ads.

Net profit = revenue minus all fees, product cost and your shipping cost.

How Etsy fees work

Etsy takes several cuts from each order: a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee charged on the item price plus the shipping you charge, and payment processing (about 3% + $0.25 in the US). If your sale came through Offsite Ads, an additional 12 to 15% applies.

Because the transaction fee also applies to the shipping you charge, 'free shipping' baked into the price is taxed the same way; there's no fee trick, only where you put the number.

This calculator nets all of it against your product and shipping costs so you see the real take-home per order, not just the headline price.

Frequently asked questions

What are Etsy's fees?

A $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on item + shipping charged, and payment processing of roughly 3% + $0.25 (US). Offsite Ads adds 12 to 15% when applicable.

Is the transaction fee charged on shipping too?

Yes. Etsy's 6.5% transaction fee applies to the shipping you charge as well as the item price.

What is the Offsite Ads fee?

When Etsy advertises your item off-site and it leads to a sale, Etsy charges 12% or 15%. It only applies to those attributed orders, so leave it at 0 otherwise.

Is it free?

Yes, free with no signup; everything runs in your browser.
